Superfood Spotlight:: STAMBA Daily Superfood Blend

Superfoods are to us in 2013 what vitamin supplements were to the 1980′s.  I know, people are still taking vitamin supplements and a few whole food sources are still really good for you, but I do not understand nor do I condone the swallowing of 20-30 mononutrient pills a day every day when there is so much good real foods around for those same essential vitamins and minerals and they actually metabolize into the body rather than just being flushed out into the urine or colon. (Have you ever noticed that neon yellow in the toilet after a really strong B-complex?  Yep, that’s most of vitamin you took a few hours ago.)  Don’t even get me started on some of the fillers used in those supplement.

I do happen to love my superfoods! I love the sheer variety of the ones we know (blueberries, beets, swiss chard, even quinoa), a few that are on the fringes (chlorella, spirulina, acai berry) and the ones that are still alien to many of us (maca, maqui chaga, cordyceps).  There are probably hundreds of superfoods globally. The definition of a superfood is any edible plant (e.g. blueberries) or animal (e.g. salmon) that contains high levels of a particular nutrient, such as antioxidants or omega-3s)  that can, perhaps, boost vitality or even help with a certain health issue.  At times I do cringe when healthy foods are labeled as superfoods because it will generally mean people will adopt the mentality of “Well, if a little is good, more must be better!”, often at the expense of variety in their diets.

I also have a real issue with the sheer volume of superfoods such as chlorella, maca, mangosteen, acai, spirulina, and the list could go on forever.  I mean, come on!  How many different powders can you fit into one or two smoothies a day and still want to drink it? (And how many of you have tried to fit all of them into one smoothie?  Show of hands…  Oh…maybe that was just me. Let’s just say it was NOT a good combination.)

STAMBA Daily Superfood Blend is the answer to every single one of my prayers regarding getting enough high quality superfoods and not having to gag an overloaded smoothie down.  First, let me wax poetic about the adorable (and reusable) little violet glass jar, meant to preserve the superior nutrient content, with the lid that screws shut but has a cute wooden covering.  When you are done with your supplements these jars could be used for so many things.  Off the top of my head, vessels for my DIYhair serum and the oil cleansing method spring to mind.

Next let me tell you how much I am in love with their core principles:

  1. We are one with the vibrant earth we inhabit.
  2. Quality is everything.
  3. Nourish all good.™

How great are those??  STAMBA is also committed to being a force of good in the world, and they donate 5% of their profits to The Cambodian Children’s Fund, Charity: Water, PRASAD Project, UNHCR and the Rainforest Alliance. Any company that adopts those principals is sure to storm the market because the market is-well, let me just say it- full of rubbish products that make big claims but deliver infinitely small results and give nothing back so the karma in even buying those products is just not worth it.  STAMBA seems to rock being ethical!

So what about the quality?  Certified organ, vegan, gluten-free and non-GMO…..that alone is a home run.  Add in sustainably sourced and raw and that’s the whole game for me.  The real kicker for me is the blend of phytonutrients, antioxidants, omega-3 and enzymes from real superstars like maca (energy and libido booster along with a great source of Vitamin B-12) , camu camu (a super source of Vitamin C), spirulina, blue-green algea and chlorella (high in protein, phytonutrients and all kinds of trace minerals not to mention really alkalizing)   Add in cordyceps  and reishi (great immune boosters), turmeric (anti-inflammatory extraordinaire), and so many other super good for you additions it is impossible to mention them all and do their functions justice along with important life-giving enzymes and you have one of the most effective “must have” supplements on the planet.

Below is their formula and the synergy behind it:

Resilience -

Fresh water greens, plant source enzymes and medicinal mushrooms bolster immune strength and internal defense factors.*

Rejuvenation -

Raw cacao and therapeutic spices reduce inflammation, and enhance cell vitality and mental acuity.*

Recovery -

Adaptogenic roots and rainforest berries sustain vital energy when under stress as well as replenish after physical exertion.*

*These statements have not been evaluated by the FDA. This dietary supplement is not intended to diagnose, treat or cure any disease.

I have been taking them for about two weeks and I notice an incredible boost in my energy, better sleep (which is pretty hard when you are pregnant with triplets), and even clearer skin and stronger digestion, which I have to say, I didn’t expect!  It has even, remarkably, had a pleasant side effect of a kind of glow that has not been present in my skin since becoming pregnant.  (Reishi, turmeric, ginger, cacao, and blue green algae are, almost assuredly responsible for this.)

The best part about the product aside from all of it……  4 very easily swallowed capsules a day work wonders on your health.  Now that we have that out of the way……

If you think you are going to take STAMBA,  eat McDonald’s every day and see the same results, think again.  It is a really incredible product that is a welcome addition to a healthy lifestyle.  As I say with any one supplement or food, it is not going to make you a supermodel, rich, or, on its own healthy.  It is meant to be a part of a healthy lifestyle but what a great part it is!  Being able to have the effects of so many superfood powerhouses in 4 capsules saves you trying to stuff 20 different powders into your smoothies or have to pick and choose which ones to take and which ones to leave out.

STAMBA has it ALL!!  It goes to the head of the class of superfood supplements for us.

I really like the sound of this and think will give it a try (when I’ve finished my Organic Raw Source capsules (which I still think are the greatest and have seen me through Autumn and Winter so far without a single cold! – am sure it’s down to them!) and my fish oil/vit d all in one – that’s all I currently take and try to eat healthily (mostly!)…..but this stuff sounds great and it’s ethical. Thanks for the info!
